Call for Papers: The 15th China Youth Economists Forum

The first China Youth Economists Forum was initiated in 2001. Since then, it has successfully become an important platform to bring together young scholars in China and worldwide to present research and to stimulate discussion on new development in economics. To encourage young economists to launch active research, the academic council of the forum is pleased to announce that the 15th China Youth Economists Forum on will be held from July 18th to 19th, 2015, at the Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE) and the School of Economics at Xiamen University, China.

The organizers of the forum are the editorial office of the Economic Research Journal, Guanghua School of Management of Peking University, the Institute for Advanced Study of Wuhan University and the Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE) and the School of Economics of Xiamen University. To enhance internationalization of the forum, there will be an English sessions (on which the papers are submitted, presented and discussed in English), and a session on Talent Cultivation and Exchange.

The forum encourages authors to submit papers using modern theories and methodologies to study problems in Chinese Economy, especially those arise along China’s development and reform and are of significant theoretical and practical value.

The topics may be in (but not limited to) the following areas: econometrics theory and application, macroeconomic theory and policy, microeconomic theory and application, finance theory and application, international economic theory and world economics, economic history and history of economic thoughts research, political economy and the research of economic development theory and policy with Chinese characteristics.

 

As a forum for young economists, the first author should be less than 45 years old (born after July 1st, 1970). The number of each paper’s co-authors should be no more than four, and there can only be one co-author over 45 years old. For paper format, please refer to the published papers on the Economic Research Journal. We recommend using Microsoft Word 2003 or older versions to edit on A4 size pages. JEL code should be noted. Authors’ contact information must be complete, clear and accurate.

To submissions for the English sessions , please send 3 hard copies to the following address before April 30th, 2015: Editorial Office of the Economic Research Journal, No. 2 Yue Tan Bei Xiao Street, Xi Cheng District, Beijing (postcode: 100836). Please write “Paper for the Youth Economists Forum” on the envelope.

Please also email your paper to cnyefs@163.comandjjxy4258@163.com, with the email subject “Paper for the Youth Economists Forum-author’s name-JEL code”.

Authors will be notified of decisions by May 20th, 2015. Registration fee will be waived for all conference presenters. Selected high-quality double-blind peer reviewed papers may be considered for publication in the Economic Research Journal.

Introduction of the Academic Council of China Youth Economists Forum

To fully play the role of China Youth Economists Forum in academic exchanges and communication, the founding organizers of the forum (the editorial office of the Economic Research Journal, Guanghua School of Management of Peking University, Institute for Advanced Study of Wuhan University) and eighteen economics and business schools and universities decided to set up the first Academic Council of China Youth Economists Forum (hereafter the Council) on September 21st, 2012.

Besides the founding organizers , up to now, the members of the Council include: Schools of Economics of Peking University, Business School of Beijing Normal University, Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, School of Economics of Fudan University, College of Economics of Jinan University, School of Economics of Liaoning University, School of Business of Nanjing University, School of Economics of Nankai University, PBC School of Finance of Tsinghua University, School of Economics of Shandong University, School of Finance and Economics of Xi’an Jiaotong University, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE) and the School of Economics of Xiamen University, College of Economics of Zhejiang University, School of Economics of Renmin University of China, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, and Lingnan (University) College of Sun Yat-sen University.

The term of every member lasts for three years. The Council holds at least one plenary session every year, gathering all members to make decisions on important issues of the China Youth Economists Forum. The Council also makes collective decision on which member to hold the next forum.

China Youth Economists Forum (2015)

EligibilitySelected papers of the first 14 forums (2001-2014) that were published on academic journals (home and abroad) before the deadline of application and not yet been selected as the Excellent Paper.

PrizeOn the opening ceremony of the 15th China Youth Economists Forum, the certificate of honor and the prize money (RMB 10,000 per awarded paper) will be awarded to the winner of the Excellent Paper Award.
